It’s that time of year again. If your children play outdoors, check them for ticks nightly. Ticks need to be attached for more than 36 hours and engorged to have the potential of transmitting Lyme Disease or another infection. Preventative treatment is not usually recommended. Checking for ticks when coming in for the evening is the best prevention. Insect repellents with <33% DEET can be effective along with wearing long sleeves and pants (like that will happen in the summer!).
